Shineway Rent-a-Car can assist the non resident renter, who does not have a Sri Lankan licence to obtain a temporary license from the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) for the course of the stay in Sri-Lanka.

Shineway will include this service free of charge to clients who rent a vehicle from us for a minimum period of two weeks. When this condition is not met, a charge of USD 6.00 is applicable per temporary license issued.

The DMT is open daily Monday – Friday (except on public holidays) from 9.00 am – 2.00 pm. Two passport sized photos and a photocopy of your passport must be furnished along with the application form. This temporary license is valid for a period of three months from the date of issue.
